I don’t know what it is about going on a trip that makes me want to get A LOT of stuff done before I go, but it happens every time. BlissDom’12 is about three and a half weeks away, and I find myself constantly thinking, “I want to get the upstairs hallway painted before I go, I want to get those new drapes hung before I go,” — the ones we currently have are sun-faded and falling apart, literally. These two items have been on my to-do list for over a year. In fact, I bought the paint for the upstairs hallway last year in February, when I painted the mud room and downstairs hallway — just never made it to the upstairs hallway! Ha!
I’m back, after a way too long hiatus. I’ve sorted a few things out, and am ready to blog with purpose in 2012. I started blogging last year. I also started a photography business, and was trying to get established as a freelance writer. In the process, I learned that photography is my real passion, so I put all of my energy into that, and everything else fell to the wayside. As for my blog, I posted a couple times per month, but I didn’t really have a theme, or a purpose. I wanted to write, and I wanted to share photos. Easy enough. However, I was confused about what topics to cover. Because of this confusion, I didn’t have a road map — or maybe the confusion was due to the lack of a road map — either way, my postings were all over the place, or I didn’t have the motivation to blog at all.
So, I’ve decided on a theme for the year — INSPIRATION, MOTIVATION, and JOY (yes, three words instead of one). I selected these three words because they all work together, and one leads to the other. When I’m inspired, I’m motivated, and that leads to joy. When I’m filled with joy, I’m motivated, which brings on the inspiration. You see where I’m going with this? This theme will keep me focused, and my blog posts will have purpose.
To start things off, I have committed to Project 365 — a photo a day for one year. I also started a 365 blog to go along with the project, and to keep my photos separate from this blog. However, I’m still going to post a photo with each post here to brighten things up a bit.
I also signed up for Kim Klassen’s ”Beyond Layers, A Year of Art Full Inspiration.” Kim is offering 52 weeks of encouragement, motivation, and inspiration — how fitting — centered around photoshop — right up my alley
Today I signed up for BlissDom’12. Oh my! This is stepping WAY out of my comfort zone!! There will be 700 attendees at this three day conference on business, photography, life development, and writing. I’m so nervous! But so excited!
I also hired a business coach and joined a networking group. And I will continue to read, read, read books on — self development, business development, and photography. Last year I started The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron, and along with that, started writing my “Morning Pages” — that lasted 12 days to be exact. This year I am making a promise to myself, to finish that book, and write my “Morning Pages” every day.
My intent for the blog this year is to write about people, places, things, and books that inspire, motivate, and bring joy into my life, with the hopes of bringing inspiration, motivation and joy into your life.
So here’s to 2012! A year full of blog posts on INSPIRATION, MOTIVATION, and JOY!!
